The first full series of Vienna will be released in February, as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’s Chase Masterson returns as the galaxy’s greatest assassin following her first solo adventure The Memory Box. We're delighted to release the cover and a trailer for this release and, for this three-disc box set, Chase is joined by a very special guest star who will be very familiar to Doctor Who fans – Frazer Hines!
Frazer, who played Second Doctor companion Jamie McCrimmon in Doctor Who on television and in many Big Finish audio adventures, guest stars in Bad Faith, by Nev Fountain, as Bax Spendlove, a charismatic spiritual leader who Vienna encounters during her latest assignment.
“We were thrilled when Frazer agreed to join us in studio for a day to record an episode of Vienna,” says producer Mark Wright “He’s such a big part of Doctor Who, and brings such a sense of fun to a recording session, along with a great deal of experience. And it’s thanks to Frazer that we have the wonderful Chase Masterson as our series star – the two met on the convention circuit in America, and it was Frazer who introduced Chase to Big Finish. And we’re very glad he did!”
Frazer takes up the story: "I was horse riding with Chase and told her I was doing an audio recording, and remarked, ‘Chase... you have a good face, ideal for audio.’ She nodded in agreement, then realised what I had said… I galloped off double quick!!”
“It was great to see the two friends reunited in studio to record Bad Faith,” continues Mark. “We kept it a secret from Chase that Frazer was going to be joining us, and it was a delight to see her reaction on the day when he arrived. It made the recording day very special.”
Vienna: Series One features three brand new full-cast adventures for Vienna – who first appeared in the Doctor Who audio adventure The Shadow Heart alongside Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor. In addition to Bad Faith, the remaining two assignments are Dead Drop by Mark Wright, and Deathworld by Vienna’s creator, Jonathan Morris.
The Vienna: Series One three-disc box set is available to pre-order at a special price, and full cast and story details, along with the stunning cover art and a trailer, are also available now.
