January 16th, 1967...

A secret agent resigns, then wakes up to find himself imprisoned in ‘The Village’ - a bizarre community with a cheery veneer, but an underbelly of mystery and threat. All occupants of The Village have numbers instead of names, with our secret agent forced to accept the mantle of Number Six.

The authorities running this Village are intent on discovering why Number Six resigned - but it’s a secret he steadfastly refuses to divulge. As the drama unfolds, the authorities, in the guise of the sinister Number Two, try ever more ingenious and aggressive means to bend Number Six to their will. All the while, Number Six is intent on two aims: to escape and to find out ‘Who is Number One?’.

“The Prisoner is all about questions,” writer and director Nicholas Briggs tells us, “Questions for him and questions for the audience.

“Mark Elstob is a great leading man, and it was great to have Lucy Briggs-Owen and John Heffernan with us this time. But, of course, my old chums Barnaby Edwards and Helen Goldwyn were on hand to provide me with a lot of reassurance.”

“It’s been a joy to step into the producer’s chair for the second volume of The Prisoner,” says producer Scott Handcock, “I have vague memories of my father’s VHS collection as a child, and visits to Portmeirion, so naturally I listened to the first set and was blown away by the way in which Nick had reimagined it for audio.

"The second volume builds upon those foundations, throwing in lots of twists and turns, and subverting a lot of people's expectations - not least our cast members, all of whom were gripped from start to finish. In short: it’s unpredictable, intense and very much The Prisoner!”
