In May we announced the chance to write a Doctor Who Short Trip, in a memorial opportunity to mark the anniversary of the loss of our much-loved Big Finish colleague Paul Spragg.

Being released on the 29th December of this year (Paul's birthday) is Doctor Who - Short Trips: Forever Fallen, a Seventh Doctor story by American writer Joshua Wanisko, read by Big Finish Executive Producer and Doctor Who actor Nicholas Briggs, and produced by Ian Atkins:

Until now, an offered chance from the Doctor has never stopped the villain's schemes.

Until now, the android armies, the powerful space stations, the mind-control rays, have gone unchecked to disastrous effect.

Until now...

...But then what happens?

Says Ian, "Paul is - and always will be - hugely missed from the Big Finish family. This Opportunity felt like a great way of marking Paul's huge devotion to Big Finish, a chance to encourage new writers (who Paul always supported when he could), and to share something to make sure he's never forgotten. Josh's story was chosen out of nearly 1100 submissions and a short-list of 100, and on one level is a celebration of the effect a single person can have on a life. It reminded me of the influence Paul had on my own life, and I suspect on many others. It's a great tale full of heart and a perceptive eye on character. Hearing Nick bring it to life in studio last month was a moving moment for all of us."

Doctor Who - Short Trips: Forever Fallen will be available for free from the 29th December. We hope you enjoy it, and as you listen raise a glass of cheer to the late, great Paul Spragg.

For those interested in the opportunity to write a Doctor Who Short Trip, we'll see you in May, while the next Short Trip for release will be November's Doctor Who - The Man Who Wasn't There later in the month.
