Producer Rob Valentine said: "The Dark Gallifrey saga is about to continue in style with Missy, a dimension-shattering three-part steampunk adventure starring Michelle Gomez as the Doctor's wild and wicked nemesis.

"Missy finds herself seriously lost in a pocket dimension that shouldn't exist - part of the fallout of Dark Gallifrey. But she soon finds that there's fun to be had, schemes to hatch, and stories of a time travelling hero with a Scottish accent. Let the battle of the brollies commence!

"Watching Michelle Gomez return to the role was a magical thing to witness, and she was absolutely delighted to be playing off Rochana Patel's incredible script. Missy is a role Michelle was born to play, and in Dark Gallifrey: Missy, she plays it to the hilt."

Lead actor Michelle Gomez said: "I have loved working on this script. It's a beautifully written script, it just flows, the dialogue is fantastic, and the audience gets to really get taken on the journey. It's outstandingly good."

Writer Rochana Patel added: "I'm glad Michelle liked the script! I am always conscious that beyond the story you're telling, it's good to give the stars something they'll enjoy performing, and not just 60 minutes of technobabble and plot. So it's not coincidence that we spend some time exploring different aspects of Missy's nature.

"Missy is a very complex character and the side I really wanted to explore was not Missy herself, but the Master. Because it's important to remember that's who she really is. I particularly wanted to explore her darker side."
