Ash’s first TARDIS trip
When the Doctor takes on a new companion, he likes to go all-out for their first trip in time and space, taking them to futuristic locales such as New Earth or to historical events such as the last days of Pompeii.
But Ashlorn Wilton is from the end of the universe, and so where better for his first trip than Scotland, 2016? This is no tourist trip, though – the Doctor has a mystery to solve, and it’s one which will lead them into an encounter with the formidable Amber Giant.
The Broken Man by Rochana Patel is the second episode of the six-part miniseries Run Fast, Be Kind, which stars Jon Culshaw as the Twelfth Doctor and Gwithian Evans as his new friend Ashlorn Wilton. This episode guest stars Jan Giedroyc as the Amber Giant and Dee Sadler as Madeline Burns.
Doctor Who – The Twelfth Doctor Adventures: The Broken Man is available to download now for purchasers of the Run Fast, Be Kind six-episode series bundle, which is available for just £43.99, exclusively here. Customers will gain access to the weekly episodic downloads, as well as the box set as a single download to own (once all episodes have been released).
The Doctor has a new friend. All of time and space awaits. Where to begin?
Scotland, obviously!
The Doctor has unfinished business there. An archaeological mystery which he needs to solve, so he can start laying the past to rest.
Writer Rochana Patel said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to be writing for this new team. Getting to write for a new companion is always exciting, particularly so early in their run, as there’s so much more you can do with them. In this case, it’s Ash’s very first adventure in the TARDIS, and that meant I had the opportunity to do something unique.
“I’ve flipped that model of contemporary companions who get plunged into an unfamiliar world – this is a new companion from an alien world in the far future, whose first wildly exotic planet is contemporary Earth. That’s an idea that Doctor Who has never truly explored, so here we’re doing something completely new! Even after sixty-three years, we can still tell bold and innovative stories in the fullest way possible.”
The Twelfth Doctor Adventures continues next week with The Beautiful and the Damned, in which the Doctor and Ash visit Mentior City, an interstellar haven for content creators, and discover the dangers beneath its impression of paradise.
