71. Torchwood: The Last Love Song of Suzie Costello
Written by Rafaella Marcus
Starring Indira Varma
From US $11.52
Writer Rafaella Marcus, making her Big Finish debut with this release, said: “There was so much that I enjoyed about writing this script. I love writing an impossible love story. I find that deeply compelling.
“Suzie contains some incredibly interesting contradictions. The word ‘ruthless’ comes to mind and that’s very much where she’s at when we meet her in the show. I was very interested in how she got to that point and what happened to her that exploited her other extreme which is a very painful vulnerability.
“I wanted to write a love story for her because I was interested in who the other person would need to be and what the circumstances would need to be for this incredibly secretive and closed-off person to even consider opening themselves up.”
Reviews
Yet another winner, and a welcome return for Torchwood Three’s unsung heroine. Stick around for a great set of interviews too. 10/10
Sci-Fi Bulletin
...The Last Love Song of Suzie Costello is a resounding success, and has set a high bar for the next two ‘romance’ stories. 4/5
Who-Review
This was a really good listen, and a massive credit to Rafaella Marcus for her first Big Finish story, really getting under the skin of such a fascinating character.
Mr TARDIS
...there’s such subtly and truth throughout Love Song that it’s easy to imagine it as a kitchen sink drama of a doomed romance. Just one that happens to have sea dragons, a smug AI, and a spaceship in it.

The performances from Indira Varma and James Backway are the real selling points, both bring a great blend of warmth and sardonic comedy to their roles.
