Have a Brief Encounter with Colin Baker

(19/08/2008)
The recently opened sci-fi and collectables shop, The TARDIS in Carnforth, North Lancashire, is hosting a special event on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August. Colin Baker will be signing copies of his latest audio Doctor Who adventure, The Doomwood Curse along with photographs and other merchandise. As well as the signing, Colin will be interviewed by Big Finish producer, John Ainsworth, in front of an audience who will also get an opportunity to ask their own questions.

The event will be taking place on Carnforth Station and its Visitor’s Centre from 10:30am until approximately 3:00pm. Colin has promised that he will not leave the event until anyone who wants an autograph has received one. As well as Colin’s signing and interview, there will be competitions, a raffle and a quiz. There may even be some familiar monsters hanging around the station. All children will receive free goody bags.

Entrance to the event is by ticket only which can either be purchased on the day or, at a discount, in advance. Prices are £10.00 for adults (£8.00 in advance), and £5.00 for children under sixteen (£4.00 in advance). Under five’s are allowed in free. Ticket purchase will entitle each adult to over £20 worth of vouchers which can be redeemed against the purchase of merchandise from The TARDIS shop - including advance orders for The Trial of a Time Lord DVD boxset which will be autographed by Colin. Payment in advance for tickets can be made by cash (in person at the shop), cheque, or PayPal. Regrettably there is no facility for credit or debit card payment.

Carnforth Station was the location used for Noel Coward’s classic film, Brief Encounter, starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard. Refreshments will be available in the station café (which looks just as it did in the movie) and you can also visit the station museum. Trains will be running regularly throughout the day. There is also a large car-park outside the station. For more details about Carnforth Station, visit their website at www.carnforthstation.co.uk.
