How The Doctor Changed My Life
(
02/05/2008)

We’re delighted to announce details of
Short Trips: How The Doctor Changed My Life, a collection of the 25 best stories from our new writing contest last year, including
Michael Coen’s winning story “
Homework”.
“
The schoolboy whose twin brother vanished in the night. A woman whose house teems with alien refugees. The dad who dies every evening…”
The competition sought out bold new writing talent and was open to anyone who’d never had a story professionally published before.
“
People who've lost jobs and loved ones, or seen their homes destroyed, or found themselves on whole other planets…”
The 25 winning authors are all different ages and from all round the world. But each spins their own thrilling story – some funny, some moving, some downright terrifying. And though these are their first professionally published stories, they certainly won’t be their last.
“
They've nothing in common with one another except that their lives can never be the same. Because they're people who've met the Doctor…”
Short Trips: How The Doctor Changed My Life, edited by
Simon Guerrier and with a foreword by
Paul Cornell, is published in
September 2008.
