More Stockbridge Horror!

Later this year, the TARDIS will be returning to Stockbridge - the sleepy English village originally created for the
Doctor Who Magazine comic strip and most recently seen in
DWM 403-405 in
The Stockbridge Child. The new trilogy of audio adventures from Big Finish will star Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, accompanied by Sarah Sutton as Nyssa.
"I loved the old 1980s DWM strips set in Stockbridge -
The Tides of Time,
The Stockbridge Horror,
Stars Fell on Stockbridge," says script editor Alan Barnes. "I loved the idea that the Fifth Doctor would make his home from home in a pretty English village, and that weird stuff would keep on happening there. The audios have visited the place before, briefly, in
Circular Time and will again in
Izzy's Story in
The Company of Friends.
"The three stories in our 'Stockbridge trilogy' are set in the past, present and future of the village. They're all very different. October's
Castle of Fear, set in the Middle Ages, is a galumphing historical adventure with, hopefully, a very surprising twist. Jonny Morris's
The Eternal Summer, released in November, is a weird
Sapphire and Steel-y sort of affair featuring mad UFO spotter Max Edison, and Mark Morris's
Village of the Damned, released in December, is a full blooded horror-ish sort of thing, with sinister ravens and zombie cricketers!" While the casts are still a closely guarded secret, star of the imminent
Torchwood:
Children of Earth Susan Brown (see picture) will be taking a role in more than one of the plays...
In other news, the cast of
Blue Forgotten Planet (September) has been confirmed. JJ Feild (who starred in the BBC's
The Ruby in the Smoke and
The Shadow in the North) plays David McCallister, Alec Newman (
Children of Dune) plays Ed Driscoll, and Andree Bernard (
The Shakespeare Code) is Ellen Green. The story stars Colin Baker's Doctor and India Fisher as Charley Pollard.
Finally, Nicola Bryant is making her debut as a
Doctor Who director with
The Companion Chronicles: The Prisoner of Peladon. Nicola, best known as 1980s companion Peri, has previously directed for Big Finish's
UNIT and
Judge Dredd ranges. This September release sees David Troughton return as King Peladon for the first time in 37 years, while Nicholas Briggs plays the Ice Warriors.
