Hear the Young Bond music and Silverfin: Part 1 trailer
Big Finish Productions and Ian Fleming Publications Ltd can today reveal the brand-new theme music for Young Bond:SilverFin, a full-cast audio drama based on Charlie Higson’s novel, due for release October 2026.
This theme, as well as the audio drama’s complete score, has been composed by Joe Kraemer, known for his work on movies including Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Jack Reacher.
Kraemer said: “It’s a dream come true, writing a Bond score! My theme is an original composition that reflects the young James Bond’s character and tantalises the listener with an intimation of a future that’s coming for him, that he doesn’t know about yet.”
Writer and director Barnaby Edwards said: “For me, it was always Joe Kraemer. Joe can weave magic with his music. He can make your pulse race, he can engender joy or fear, he can pluck at your heartstrings. Music is hugely important to me as a writer and director, it adds that fourth dimension to a script. He was the first person we told once the project had been greenlit. He’s central to the entire world of Young Bond.
“In terms of the music for SilverFin, we all agreed that we didn’t want a pastiche of the movies. This was Young Bond – the superspy before he became one we know from Fleming and Broccoli. We definitely wanted it to be as exciting as the movies, though. It’s quite a task to build an eight-hour score which offers the richness of an action movie without tipping into John Barry or David Arnold territory. And that’s what Joe’s delivered. He’s built a new Bond from the ground up. Definitely a case of ‘Nobody Does It Better’!”
Producer Robert Valentine added: “Joe Kraemer was our first and only choice to do the score for SilverFin. He's a composer of vast experience and pedigree, and it's a great pleasure listening to his music as each edit comes in.”
And, producer Lizzie Worsdell said: “Joe truly is a genius and has made the piece come alive. We all agreed from day one that he was the only man for the job due to his incredible background and I couldn’t be happier with how the music has turned out.”
