Star Cops meets Alien!
The audio drama miniseries Star Cops – Conflict, featuring cast members from Chris Boucher’s 1987 BBC TV series, returns today with Adrift by Georgia Cook, the fourth of six full-cast episodes.
When we last caught up with the officers of the International Space Police Force, in March’s release Prisoner and Escort, the team suffered a shocking loss. As Adrift begins, they’re still dealing with this tragedy when a new case calls – and it’s a potentially horrifying one.
Commander Nathan Spring (David Calder) and Inspector Paul Bailey (Philip Olivier) set out to investigate a shuttle lost in space. What has happened to the ship’s crew – and is it possible they were attacked by an alien lifeform?
Star Cops – Conflict: Adrift is now available to purchase for just £8.99, as a digital download to own, exclusively here.
When a stolen cargo shuttle drifts back into lunar orbit, seemingly deserted, Nathan and Paul investigate. They uncover a conspiracy involving hijacking, smuggling – and claims of a creature at loose.
The cast of Adrift also includes Linda Newton as Chief Superintendent Pal Kenzy, Trevor Cooper as Inspector Colin Devis, Lynsey Murrell as Inspector Alice Okoro, James Robinson as Bram Calvis, Rebecca Yeo as Julia Zheng, Jessica Martin as Alexandra Myers, and Ben Miles as Howard Lesser.Script editor Andrew Smith said: “We’re now starting the final three parts of Star Cops – Conflict. Georgia’s episode Adrift is kind of a standalone, though we’ve got the background, as we have throughout the whole of the Conflict set, of world tensions growing.
“When I asked Georgia to come on board, I was aware that her particular genre is horror and I thought that would be an interesting thing to explore in a Star Cops context. So that was her brief: ‘Can you give us a story with a real horror vibe?’ Georgia really runs with it and puts our main characters through the mill, it’s fair to say.”
Writer Georgia Cook added: “It was certainly nerve-wracking to pick up from such a dramatic and impactful last episode. All the characters are still reeling from the aftermath, but aren’t given much time to process before they’re thrown back into work.
“I love the whole crew of Star Cops. Everyone is such an interesting and well-rounded character, each dealing with the trials of space and their jobs in their own way. It’s been such a delight adding to everyone’s extended Big Finish canon.”
The Star Cops will return in October in Tick Tock.
