The Return of Zorro!

Originally created by Johnston McCulley in 1919, the swashbuckling swordsman Zorro defends the people of nineteenth-century California against corrupt authorities and tyrannical villains. He has appeared across novels, TV series and films, including 1998’s The Mask of Zorro starring Antonio Banderas and its 2005 sequel The Legend of Zorro. 

Now, the story of those two popular films will continue in a brand-new audio drama. In the six-part adventure The Legacy of Zorro, Martin Marquez (known for TV series Hotel Babylon and The Job Lot) takes on the role of Alejandro Murrieta, aka Zorro, alongside Norah Lopez Holden as his new accomplice Gabriela. 

The series is scripted by Star Wars author Adam Lance Garcia and directed by Ken Bentley, with all six episodes due to be released in November 2026 as a single downloadable box set.

California, 1870. It has been five years since the American Civil War and the legend of Zorro has fallen into myth. In his absence, former Confederates Catherine Newbold Hill and Sheriff Nathan Longstreet have kidnapped hundreds of innocent people, forcing them to dig for the lost gold of Don Rafael Montero. 

Gabriela escapes captivity, intent on fighting to free her compadres. Whilst Alejandro Murrieta, once more wearing the mask of Zorro, is determined to get to the bottom of Hill and Longstreet’s nefarious plan.
