Two Dark Shadows tales resurrected
In the early 2000s, cast members from the 1966-71 gothic soap opera Dark Shadows reunited for two new adventures featuring their characters, which continued the cult TV show’s spooky storylines.
Return to Collinwood was originally performed onstage at the Dark Shadows Festival 2003 and was recorded in audio format the following day. This was followed by a second production, Vengeance at Collinwood, which was recorded live onstage at the Dark Shadows Festival 2005.
Both stories have long been unavailable but today are re-released by Big Finish Productions. This set also includes a bonus disc, featuring actor Jonathan Frid reading two classic horror stories, as well as a 1968 radio interview with Frid.
As Dark Shadows marks its sixtieth anniversary, it’s time to draw the curtains and return to the eerie world of Collinwood Mansion, where vampires, ghosts, and other supernatural beings reside…
Dark Shadows: Return to Collinwood & Vengeance at Collinwood is now available to purchase for just £19.99 (download to own) or £29.99 (download to own + collector’s edition CD box set), exclusively here. Please note: the collector’s edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,000 copies and will not be re-pressed.
The stories included in this release are:
Return to Collinwood by Jamison Selby (two discs)
Following the passing of matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, a seance is held to contact her spirit. The wandering Quentin Collins returns from travels as mysteries surrounding the Collins family unfold, including the reading of Elizabeth’s will.
The future of Collinwood is threatened with the unexpected arrival of Cassandra Collins, alias immortal witch Angelique, who shares a dangerous secret with Quentin about their dark past.
Vengeance at Collinwood by Jamison Selby (one disc)
Long absent attorney Tony Peterson returns after several decades away from Collinsport, appearing at the Blue Whale pub run by Willie Loomis and his wife Jessica. He learns that his former flame Carolyn Stoddard, Quentin Collins and others reside at the Collinwood estate.
Possessed by the spirit of his ancestor, Reverend Trask, Tony is particularly interested in seeking revenge against Cassandra Collins, Angelique the witch, who evaded prosecution and caused Trask’s demise.
Bonus Disc: Jonathan Frid – Drama and Dialogue
Dark Shadows actor Jonathan Frid performs haunting readings of two classic short stories, The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe and The Water Ghost of Harrowby Hall by John Kendrick Bangs, and discusses his role as the legendary vampire Barnabas Collins in a radio interview from 1968.
The two full-cast audio stories have a cast of actors from the original TV series, including David Selby as the immortal Quentin Collins, Nancy Barrett as the paranormal expert Carolyn Stoddard Stuart, and Lara Parker as the witch Cassandra Collins/Angelique.
Also on the cast list are John Karlen as Willie Loomis, Roger Davis as Ned Stuart, Marie Wallace as Jessica Loomis, Christopher Pennock as Sebastian Shaw, Donna Wandrey as Mrs. Franklin, James Storm as Dr. Robert Harper, Terry Crawford as Violet Chavez Collins, Jerry Lacy as Tony Peterson/Spirit of Reverend Trask, and Kathryn Leigh Scott as Maggie Evans Haskell.
