Helen Lederer joins The Fugitive Doctor

The Fugitive Doctor (Jo Martin) is still on the run from her former employers, the sinister Time Lord agency known as Division, but in her next three adventures – forming the upcoming audio drama box set Running Wild – she’s ready to take control and seek answers to her questions.

From a floating temple in a space to an archive of the universe, the Doctor is on a mission which will reveal shocking secrets about her time with Division. Along the way, she encounters her old enemies the Daleks (Nicholas Briggs), and her Time Lord pursuer is still causing trouble – though with a new face!

Helen Lederer – the comedian and actress known for TV series including Absolutely Fabulous and The Young Ones – plays the recently regenerated Cosmogon across all three episodes. Cosmogon is hunting the Doctor for Gallifrey’s High Council, but both Time Lords find themselves in many other strange and dangerous encounters across time and space…

Lederer said: “Doctor Who is part of my childhood, probably most people’s childhood. I realise now what an institution it is. And now I’m part of the family! I was thrilled to get the scripts. There’s a kind of twisty humour embedded in it, but it is otherworldly too.

“Cosmogon is a very interesting character, divided in her motives because she has to do the right thing. She has to veer who is she fighting for and against, but always with a slight exasperated humour.”

Doctor Who – The Fugitive Doctor: Running Wild is now available to pre-order for just £19.99 (download to own) or £29.99 (download to own + collector’s edition CD box set), exclusively from www.bigfinish.com. Please note: the collector’s edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,000 copies and will not be re-pressed.

The three new adventures for the Fugitive Doctor are:

Tholos by Alex Hewitt

To uncover the secrets hidden within her mind, the Doctor voyages to the Temple of Lucidity – a great tholos floating through space – where a multicoloured tiger will teach her the secrets of the mystical dream-language of Oneira.

But are the Arkiris Tiger’s motives pure? How has the Doctor’s dogged pursuer, Cosmogon, managed to follow her here? And why does Cosmo have a new face?

Scripture by Katharine Armitage

In the Scripture System, temporally unbound scribes chronicle the history of the universe: everything that has been, everything that is, and everything that will be. They're the people with the answers and the Doctor has some very big questions for them. But so do the Daleks…

… and if the metal-plated conquerors from Skaro are ever going to dominate the universe, they’re going to have to do something about someone whose name begins with ‘D’.

Genesis of the Doctor by Rochana Patel

All stories have a beginning, but some are shrouded in myth and legend, and lost to the mists of time…

What you need is a living witness. And a mind probe.

And the Doctor will soon have both…

This time, one way or another, she will have her answers – but is she ready for them?

Script editor Robert Valentine said: “This new phase of the Fugitive Doctor’s adventures sees her taking a more aggressive course in her flight from Division. She may still be on the run, but she’s determined to find the mysterious ‘Man in the Grey Suit’, who may know the secrets of her predicament.

“I’m delighted to have the wonderful Helen Lederer join the series as Cosmogon’s second incarnation. The dogged Time Lord detective has been forcibly regenerated by Division in the hope she’ll play by their rules in their hunt for the Doctor, but this new Cosmo won't bend so easily. Helen’s Cosmogon is funny, wild and in many ways more like the Doctor than the Doctor is, and I can’t wait for people to hear them together.”
