Young Bond: The First Day in Studio

Stop Press•Big Finish News•Young Bond

With the casting process complete, the Young Bond production team got to work recording the thrilling audio drama SilverFin, starring Isaac Rouse as James Bond and Charlotte McBurney as Wilder Lawless.

We were on hand during Isaac and Charlotte’s first days in studio, to capture the excitement of setting out on Young Bond’s first mission.

Writer and director Barnaby Edwards said: “The first day on any directing job can be a nerve-racking occasion, which is why I prepare as much as possible in advance. The only variable I couldn’t pre-determine was whether the chemistry in the room would work. Thankfully, I needn’t have worried. In addition to being a wonderful actor, Isaac is a splendid leading man. He clicked instantly with all his fellow actors, made them feel at ease and gave them something exciting to play against.

“Charlotte didn’t join us until Day Three of recording, as Wilder doesn’t appear until later in the story. But that day was one of the happiest of the whole recording period. It was just Bond, Wilder, Red Kelly and George Hellebore – and it was an exhilarating experience watching these four superb young actors sparking off each other. A truly magical experience.”

Producer Robert Valentine added: “We were really excited to get going in the studio, and hearing Isaac utter the immortal line ‘Bond, James Bond’ for the very first time was an incredible moment. Everyone cheered on both sides of the glass as soon as the scene finished!

And, producer Lizzie Worsdell said: “The studio recording had been such a long time coming, so we were all thrilled to finally be there! There was a real buzz and excitement in the room as it felt like this was going to be something special. Isaac and Charlotte were both brilliant from their first scenes, and a lot of the cast were younger, newer actors too, which brought a lot of nice energy and enhanced that excitement.”
