The Decayed Master takes on the Third Doctor!

The Master (Geoffrey Beevers) has been pursuing a gang of renegade Time Lords through Earth’s history using the skiproads, a deadly form of time travel. Naava (Kate Copeland) may have reached the end of her journey, as the Master catches up with her in medieval York. But help is on hand... 

While taking part in a modern-day ghost tour, the Third Doctor (Tim Treloar) detects the spectres left behind by this historical confrontation, and enters the fray to confront his archenemy. 

Though he briefly joined the fight against the Master in 2013’s The Light at the End, today’s new release Dark Gallifrey: The Decayed Master – Part Three marks the first time Treloar’s Third Doctor has had a direct stand-off with the Master. 

In this third and final part of the horror-styled trilogy written by Lauren Mooney and Stewart Pringle, will the Doctor’s intervention be enough to stop the Master succeeding in his wicked scheme?

With the Master bearing down, Naava flees through a skiproad to the plague-infected streets of medieval York. She’s seeking her old friend Calix, the greatest of the chronosurgeons, to warn him of the nightmare that pursues her. 

But something else is emerging from the skiproads, something twisted and deadly, tearing chunks out of the panicked city. Naava has only one hope to set things right and escape the Master’s clutches, and he’s hundreds of years in the future, listening out for ghosts of the ancient city. 

Co-writer Lauren Mooney said: “As we get into the third part of this story, we were given the ability to have the Third Doctor in there. It’s always a pleasure to get to write the Third Doctor, we were both big fans of that era as kids. The Third Doctor is quite confidently victorious, so it was a really interesting challenge to bring him into this dark story.” 

Co-writer Stewart Pringle added: “The backbone of this story ultimately is about the Master and Naava and their battle across time and space. So we didn’t want to blow that big moment of the Third Doctor versus the Master open too wide, but we have a little bit of fun with the Third Doctor meeting this most unusual and darkest of the Master’s incarnations.”
