John Hurt

The legendary actor Sir John Hurt (1940-2017) had an incredible career on stage and screen, including roles in BBC series I, Claudius, sci-fi horror Alien, and David Lynch’s The Elephant Man, for which he was Oscar-nominated and won one of his four BAFTAs. In 2013, he guest-starred in Doctor Who’s fiftieth anniversary special as the War Doctor, a darker, warrior-like incarnation of the Time Lord. Hurt returned to this character for Big Finish Productions for four The War Doctor box sets, beginning in 2015, with the fourth volume released posthumously.
