Big Finish is pleased to announce the return of David Selby as Quentin Collins, in Dark Shadows: The Haunted Refrain.
Dark Shadows (1966-1971) was a US TV series which told the story of the cursed American town of Collinsport. It was recently remade as a film starring Johnny Depp.
Quentin Collins, a roguish immortal, left Collinsport in 1897 and traveled the world searching for his lost love, Amanda Harris (The Eternal Actress). This story, taking place in 1969, is set during those travels.
Portland, Maine: Moving into a new house, a married couple discover an old, abandoned gramophone in the attic. But when Barbara starts to play records on it, she hears voices that call to her. Voices calling out in pain and voices that scream of the darkness...
The Haunted Refrain is written by Aaron Lamont. “Late last year, I asked a number of writers to pitch,” says producer Joseph Lidster. “Some were very experienced, some were new to Dark Shadows and a couple were completely new to writing for audio. In 2010, I saw a theatre production, Safer, written by Aaron, that was a haunting, bleak two-hander and so fellow producer James Goss and myself approached him to see if he'd be interested in pitching for Dark Shadows.”
“Although I was only partially familiar with the series,” says Lamont. “I instantly fell in love with the character of Quentin Collins. So besides trying to create a horror story specifically designed for audio, I knew I wanted to explore his character and what was so attractive about him to me and to the series' audience.”
The Haunted Refrain, also starring Andrew Collins and Karen Jean Olds as husband and wife Grant and Barbara, will be released in November.
