Reviews

Stranded 3 somehow manages to be the most experimental of the three sets released thus far, as well as having a theme of anti-authoritarianism running through the entire set to great effect, bringing it up to one of the highest sets from Big Finish in the eleventh hour of 2021. 9.5/10

Indie Mac User

For a series that has already been one of Big Finish's most experimental in terms of pushing the boundaries of Doctor Who storytelling, Stranded 3 kicks things up a notch. From finding ways to do character stories inside more traditional Whovian fare to telling a finale in reverse, this box-set is nothing short of a Big Finish showcase.

Warped Factor

The standard of stories is once again very high and the character of the Eighth Doctor who directly precedes the War Doctor is an interesting study. It seems he just can’t help himself. This series of so far three Stranded boxsets has set the bar very high for other dramas, it’s been intense but we’ve also had some laughs, like any friendships.

SF Crowsnest

Small choices make a big difference… A different way of ending a set that’s been unusual in its storytelling throughout. 8/10

Sci-Fi Bulletin

These four stories succeed in finding new and fresh things to say about the Doctor Who universe. And even as the TARDIS heals and the arc moves into a new phase, these character still feel stranded. Trapped by their own natures, by their dreams, and by a web of events that they seemingly can’t escape. And while the mystery has now been solved, the battle to save the future is just beginning.

Blogtor Who

Stranded 3 has a strong claim to being the definitive vision of what Doctor Who should look like here and now. And it’s brilliant.

We Are Cult

There’s no shortage to the superlatives that apply to the Stranded saga, and indeed The Eighth Doctor Adventures more broadly. I haven’t mentioned McGann’s subtly intelligent performance, and how he strikes that delicate balance between light and dark, wry and enigmatic, extremely well. Stranded 3 hasn’t lost its core focus on heart, humour and everyday life, but the foreboding future catastrophe first alluded to in Stranded 1 has finally taken shape.
