The Lost Stories: The Collected Sixth Doctor 1, a digital collected edition of full-cast audio dramas starring Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant, is due for release in February 2026.
Big Finish Productions’ audio series Doctor Who – The Lost Stories, which adapts adventures that were pitched to the production office during the classic era of the TV show but never produced, began in November 2009 with the first of eight stories starring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant as his companion Peri.
Together, these eight releases formed a new season of adventures for the Doctor and Peri, set after 1985’s Season 22. They incorporated stories that had been pitched for Season 22 alongside ones that had been planned for the following season but shelved when the series went on hiatus.
Across their eight trips in the TARDIS, the Doctor and Peri visit everywhere from Elizabethan London to a whaling ship in deep space, though their adventures begin in Blackpool, 1986. Here they face the Doctor’s old enemy the Toymaker (david bailie). Other returning aliens across the series include Sil (Nabil Shaban), the Ice Warriors, and the Tractators.
These eight popular audio adventures are now due to be re-released in a repackaged digital edition.
Producer David Richardson said: “It’s astonishing to think that it’s heading for almost 20 years since I proposed The Lost Stories to Jason Haigh-Ellery and Nicholas Briggs. Until that point, Big Finish had been focused on devising new adventures in the Whoniverse. I felt that there was room to document gaps in the TV series too, to track down stories that never made it to the screen and bring them to audio with their intended Doctors.
“I loved the weeks of research that producing these Lost Stories involved – identifying unmade tales, locating the storylines or scripts, and tracking down the writers and rights holders. So many treasured memories, like spending the day with the delightful family of the late Graham Williams, visiting Barbara Clegg at home and negotiating the rights to Point of Entry over a cup of tea, liaising with PJ Hammond and Ingrid Pitt…
“I’m really proud of the series, because I think we discovered some true gems. Paradise 5 is a cracking story and remains a favourite. Point of Entry is atmospheric and exciting and dripping in period detail. And Leviathan, which turned up in a surprise email from Paul Finch, would have been a classic of its era had it made it to the screen.
“Best of all, The Lost Stories are still going to this day. I’m no longer producing them, but what a treat it is to sit back and enjoy them as a listener!”
Doctor Who – The Lost Stories: The Collected Sixth Doctor 1 is now available to pre-order exclusively from the Big Finish website, as a digital download to own, for just £44.99.
