Last weekend Big Finish received some welcome news from the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers who honour licenced works that tie in with other media. Big Finish was delighted to find four of its releases nominated in the Scribe Awards 2018 Audio category.
To celebrate the hard work put in by our fantastic writers, actors, directors and production team, the four nominated releases on now on special offer.
The first of the nominations is one of The Companion Chronicles stories in The First Doctor Volume Two box set. Across the Darkened City by David Bartlett is a tale narrated by Peter Purves, and the box set is now available at £17.50 on CD or £15 on download.
On the planet Shade, The Chaons, an invading race of strange, amorphous creatures that ravenously absorb energy, have reduced the city there to a desolate ruin. Separated from the Doctor and Vicki, Steven has to join forces with an unexpected ally to find his way back to the TARDIS. Ahead, lies a nightmare journey through the dark – a test of endurance and trust.
One of the stories from the return of David Tennant and Billie Piper as the Tenth Doctor and Rose also received a nomination. This release in The Tenth Doctor Adventures Volume 2 also signalled the return of the Ice Warriors to New Series Doctor Who. Cold Vengeance by Matt Fitton is now available at the special offer price of £8 on CD or £6 on download.
The TARDIS arrives on Coldstar, a vast freezer satellite, packed with supplies to feed a colony world.
But there are cracks in the ice, and something scuttles under the floors. Soon, Rose and the Doctor encounter robots, space pirates and... refuse collectors.
As Coldstar's tunnels begin to melt, an even greater threat stirs within. An old enemy of the Doctor puts a plan into action – a plan for retribution.
Nobody's vengeance is colder than an Ice Warrior's.
