The Turn of the Screw, a new Short Trips adventure for Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor is out now. Written by Eddie Robson and directed by Lisa Bowerman, The Turn of the Screw also features Yee Jee Tso returning as Warrant Officer Charlie Sato
Actor Yee Jee Tso (who first appeared in the Doctor Who 1996 TV movie as Chang Lee) was delighted to return to Doctor Who to join the UNIT ranks as Warrant Officer Sato (first seen in The Doctor Who Companion Chronicle Tales from the Vault) in this new Eighth Doctor Story.
Charlie Sato has been chasing a bit of alien junk from England to Puerto Rico. He's finally got his hands on it – but now he's got to get it safely off the island. The aliens he stole it from want it back, and someone else has hired a group of thugs to get hold of it. And then there's the original owner – he might come looking too.
All this for a screwdriver? Someone, somewhere must want to unscrew some pretty important screws.
Producer Ian Atkins tells us more "The Eighth Doctor Adventures were what brought me to Big Finish in the first place, and Eddie Robson has a great ear for the voice and energy of the Eighth Doctor, so I'd been very keen to work with him in the Short Trips range. After his heart-breaking meeting of Susan and her Grandfather in All Hands on Deck, Eddie and I discussed a lighter piece when Yee Jee Tso had reached out to say he'd be available for recording at quite short notice.
"As most people are aware, the TV movie characters are off-limits, so we knew he'd be reprising his UNIT Vault character Charlie Sato (only this time sadly without his partner Ruth Matheson), so we thought it would be nice to put Charlie on his travels solo, where of course trouble's never far behind...
"There's a lot of action in this one, and it's part Bond film, part hard-boiled detective story, which Yee Jee's Canadian accent fits perfectly. It's nice to have UNIT acting a little more worldwide, which was inspired by some of the globe-trotting UNIT - New Series adventures, and director Lisa Bowerman and sound designer David Roocroft rose to the challenge admirably".
Coming soon a whole variety of Short Trips! In Erasure, out for release in June 2018, actor Seán Carlsen’s Narvin (from Big Finish’s Gallifrey range) tells us a Fourth Doctor and Adric tale from Gallifrey folklore.
The Celestial Intervention Agency, a shadowy, unspoken of part of the Time Lord hierarchy. Beloved and loathed in equal measure by various Presidents and High Councils the millennias over. But they serve a very important function: they keep the time lines safe and clear – they do the darker, dirtier jobs that most Time Lords would prefer not to know even need doing.
CIA Sub-Coordinator Narvin has always taken his oath to uphold the Worshipful Laws of Gallifrey very seriously. But when he is sent on a mission to investigate the planetBellascon, even he hasn't reckoned with the force of nature that is the Fourth Doctor, who has – one might say – his own way of dealing with things, and his own views on people like Narvin. But somehow the two must overcome their instincts and work together to stop the web of time being erased forever…
And in I am the Master, out for release in October 2018, Geoffrey Beavers tell a Time Lord tale with a difference, as we explore the mind of one of the most evil men in existence.

Many more exciting tales will be coming to the Short Trips range. We would like to apologise for the delay in the Jackie Tyler MetaCrisis Doctor Short Trips, The Siege of Big Ben and Flight into Hull!, due to production issues. But we promise that it is for good reason. More details soon...
