We love StoriesBig Finish produce great full-cast audio drama for CD and download, featuring many popular television fantasy series.

There’s plenty for listeners of spy dramas at Big Finish, and with the return of The Avengers in February next year, now is the perfect time to catch up with the first volume of The Avengers – The Lost Episodes.

Confronted with an apparently motiveless crime, David Keel feels compelled to investigate. His only hope may be a mysterious gentleman who appears to know more than he says.

Still on the trail of the men who wrecked his life, Dr Keel gets to know John Steed rather better as they infiltrate warring gangs running amok in the betting community.

Steed goes undercover amongst a group of forgers. As the stakes get higher, his risk of discovery increases and Dr Keel may be his only chance to escape alive. ONE FOR

It should have been an easy day for David Keel. But John Steed’s arrival disrupts everything, as usual. Our heroes find themselves enmeshed in an intricate web of laundry, taxidermy and murder.

Our incarnation of John Steed is played by Julian Wadham, paying homage to the iconic part made famous by Patrick MacNee. Julian gave us an exclusive interview in January 2014’s edition of Vortex magazine: “The Avengers is exactly the era in which I was growing up. I was born in 1958 so I sat there and watched these original programmes, and I can still remember the thrill and the style of those programmes.

“And of course John Steed deservedly became an iconic figure and I remember very clearly the jaunty angle of his hat and the sense of humour and the smile and the seductive eyes – although, of course, at that age I wouldn’t have realised that’s what they were!”

The Avengers – The Lost Episodes Volume One is available now at just £4.99 on download.

And don’t forget that there are more stories from the world of The Avengers coming out next year. Due for release in February 2019, The Avengers: The Comic Strip Adaptations Volume Three finds John Steed and Tara King continuing their capers in four stories:
