For The Love Of StoriesBig Finish produce fantastic full-cast audio dramas for CD and download.

Mr Anderson, who co-created the series with his business partner Christopher Burr, is the author of the new release’s fifth episode '101 Seed' – originally written for an unmade fourth season of the show, and now revised and adapted for audio by his son and Terrahawks producer Jamie Anderson.

But thanks to an archive recording, and the technical prowess of sound designer Martin Montague, Gerry also makes a vocal appearance in the set's climactic finale 'Into the Breach'. Jamie talked to us about how this special cameo was achieved.

Although Dad was well known for his writing, producing and directing, he also voiced one of his characters - Robert the Robot in Fireball XL5 (1962). He was always rather proud of this, and would regularly recite his favourite line "On our way 'ome" during interviews, and quite often in private to me... normally as we got into to the car to head home, of course!”

“While working with one of the writers - Mark Woollard - on his episode 'Into the Breach', it suddenly struck me that we could further celebrate Dad's legacy and XL5 voice work by having him make a posthumous cameo appearance in one episode.”

“As luck would have it, writer and script editor Stephen La Riviére had an interview with Dad from 2007 where he told the story, and delivered the famous line. Mark Woollard worked out a way to incorporate the line, and with a bit of sound design work from Martin Montague (for the original delivery in Fireball XL5 Dad used a modulator on his throat to achieve the desired effect), it all came together.”

“So, despite passing away in December 2012, not only is one of his original scripts (101 Seed) being brought to life, but he also makes a brief appearance as Zeroid 29 in the final episode of Volume 1. For me it's a touching little nod to a great man, and I think he would have approved.”

Terrahawks: Volume 1, a five disc, eight story set, is available on CD and Download today. A free preview episode, Deadly Departed, is also available.
