For The Love Of StoriesBig Finish produce fantastic full-cast audio dramas for CD and download.

A star-studded cast has been assembled for this political thriller, set in 1945, the year of a very important election. The Meddling Monk has inveigled his way into Churchill’s advisory team but, with aliens and spies involved, even the Doctor finds that he has to learn to fool the prime minister in his own way.

Making his Big Finish debut in this audio drama is Brian Capron, familiar to many as one of TV’s greatest soap villains, Richard Hillman in Coronation Street. But his portrayal of charming MI5 agent, Lesley Kulcade, may not be all that it seems.

Doctor Who: Subterfuge is available now as a collector’s edition CD or on download from £12.99 at www.bigfinish.com.

London, 1945. Winston Churchill campaigns for re-election. His new strategic adviser assures him that Britain has a bright future under his continued leadership. It’s a vote he can’t possibly lose. But the Doctor knows that he must.

The Monk is meddling, altering history for his own selfish ends. With spies and aliens in the mix, Winston realises victory may not be so simple. But at least he can trust his old friend... can’t he?

Doctor Who: Subterfuge’s ensemble cast also includes Rufus Hound (Celebrity Juice, Argumental), as previously announced, plus Mimi Ndiweni (The Witcher, Rellik) and Philip Labey (On Chesil Beach, Red Dwarf).

Actor Brian Capron said: “I am playing Agent Kulcade who is an MI5 operative. He seems quite authentic early on, but he proves to be something quite the opposite eventually. It's a lovely character to play because he's so devious. There's so much colour and intrigue involved in the role. There's a lot of potential with this one.”

Actor Ian McNeice said: “The thing I enjoy about Doctor Who is, actually, there's no reason why Churchill couldn't come back at any time, day or night, with any Doctor. We are laying the groundwork in this story for him to turn up again. It's a joy to appear with the Doctors themselves in these audio dramas. I've now done one with Sylvester McCoy and one with Paul McGann. Here's to many more.”

And Sylvester McCoy, the Seventh Doctor, added: “I've really enjoyed doing this episode because I do love history and also I know this history. I was around when these things happened – or didn't happen, thanks to Doctor Who. I didn't realise that I'd come back in time and keep history on track and save the timeline.”

Doctor Who: Subterfuge is available now as a collector’s edition CD or on download at the Big Finish website from £12.99. All CD purchases unlock a download option via the Big Finish app and the Big Finish website.
