The Audio & Radio Industry Awards (ARIAS) are the premium awards scheme in the sector, recognising the talented individuals and teams in UK audio and radio who excel at their craft and produce the very best body of work in the world. 

The Big Finish nominees are: 

Doctor Who: Out of Time 1 

The Human Frontier 1 

The award winners will be announced at an online ceremony on 26th May 2021 from 5.30pm.  

The first of these nominations is Doctor Who: Out of Time 1, an audio adventure which paired Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor with David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor and hurled them into the Cathedral of Contemplation, where an army of invading Daleks can only be repelled by utilising the ingenuity of two Time Lords – the same Time Lord! 

Producer David Richardson said: “Double Doctors and Daleks! What’s not to love - and how brilliant that Out of Time has been nominated in the ARIAS. It’s a piece of joyous escapism in a year that we never needed escapism more. Doctor Who to the rescue, as always.” 

The second of these nominations is The Human Frontier 1, an epic science fiction story spanning hundreds of years of future history. Comprising four hour-long episodes, it is at once a love story, a story of a struggle for power and a futuristic murder mystery. 

Director, writer and composer Nicholas Briggs said: “The Human Frontier is a real passion project for me. Everyone has worked so hard on it. Scott Handcock’s script editing really helped me. Emma Haigh did a brilliant job producing, and we assembled a top-notch cast. Iain Meadows has also done an outstanding job on the sound design. On behalf of everyone involved, I’m very proud that we’ve received this nomination.”
