For The Love Of StoriesBig Finish produce fantastic full-cast audio dramas for CD and download.

The Sea Devils have been lurking under the ocean since prehistoric times, and surfacing to bother humanity since their first appearance in televised Doctor Who in 1972. Now, they face Tom Baker’s Doctor for the first time in the opening story of The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Storm of the Sea Devils

This box set also sees two travellers join the TARDIS crew; Surgeon Lieutenant Harry Sullivan (Christopher Naylor) – who had previously travelled with the Doctor and Sarah Jane in Season 12 and 13 of the original BBC series – and UNIT secretary Naomi Cross (Eleanor Crooks).

Of course, regular Big Finish listeners have already followed Harry and Naomi’s adventures with the Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy), as well as with Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) and the modern-day UNIT team. The two of them are about to set off on their timeline-twisting journey, and it will take a lot of detours before they get home.

Storm of the Sea Devils is where that story begins, with Harry and Naomi meeting for the first time as they investigate strange sightings in India – sightings that a certain Time Lord is also looking into.

Doctor Who – The Fourth Doctor Adventures: Storm of the Sea Devils is now available to own as a collector’s edition 3-disc CD box set (+ download for just £19.99) or a digital download (for just £16.99), exclusively here.

The two stories in this box set are:

Storm of the Sea Devils by David K Barnes

Surgeon Lieutenant Harry Sullivan is supposed to be on holiday. But his arrival in Calcutta is intercepted by someone from the local branch of UNIT – a staff member called Naomi Cross.

A businessman in the area has mysteriously cancelled the opening of his new hotel… and local villagers have reported sightings of ‘devils’ in the swamps. Devils that look very familiar from the UNIT files…

The businessman requires medical aid so UNIT have decided to send him a doctor. Unfortunately, when Harry and Naomi arrive on site they find a different Doctor has got there ahead of them… And that’s just the start of their troubles.

Worlds Beyond by Robert Khan and Tom Salinsky

The Doctor, Harry and Naomi have arrived on a luxury resort world where custom made holidays are provided for every visitor. Their minds are scanned and their ideal getaway is planned.

Naomi gets an activity break by the sea, Harry explores a crumbling ruin and the Doctor ends up playing chess with Alan Turing.

All seems idyllic… but every paradise must have a snake… mustn’t it?

The box set’s cast also includes Silas Carson (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Doctor Who: The Impossible Planet), Amaka Okafor (Bodies), Anthony Howell (Foyle's War), Amina Zia (Porridge), Raj Ghatak (Dead Set, Christopher Robin), and Nicholas Briggs (Doctor Who's voice of the Daleks and Cybermen).

Tom Baker said: “It’s a terribly good story, and I have some terrific lines. Terrific lines are very important, you know, as you get older. There’s quite a lot of fun and a good amount of horror. Christopher Naylor catches that wonderful jovial innocence that Ian Marter had, and that lovely self-deprecating side.”

Christopher Naylor added: “I love Storm of the Sea Devils. David K Barnes has done a really good job capturing the feel of those early stories. It has that seriousness that Season 12 stories had, but it also has that ironic humour and the lightness of touch, and a lovely Earth setting as well.

“Harry meets Naomi for the first time, and he’s slightly bamboozled by this very brave and strong-minded woman. He immediately has a sense of protectiveness towards her, but she doesn’t really need to be protected. So it’s interesting territory for Harry!”

Eleanor Crooks said: “Being a companion now is awesome. I was so excited when Big Finish approached me about that. Naomi is very confident, she’s not afraid to ask questions, she has no filter, but at the same time, she has a little hint of empathy there.”
