John Hurt reprised his role as the War Doctor - first seen on television in The Name of the Doctor - in a series of brand new adventures for Big Finish released between 2015 and 2017.

Hurt's tragic passing in 2017 brought the curtain down on the War Doctor's further adventures but now his origin story can finally be told. Jonathon Carley made his debut in the role in 2021, and stars in Doctor Who: The War Doctor Begins and Doctor Who: The War Doctor Rises.
